Aquiline nose is condition which the nose has high nose bridge (Nasal dorsum) with protrusion in the middle (hump), and comparatively low nasal tip. Projection in the mid-point of the nose is caused by overgrowth of the nasal bone and septum, which gives strong and old impression. Removing the hump can make the long nose to appear shortened, which also creates younger and more sophisticated impression.
Aquiline nose could be caused by either genetic reasons, or acquired by external force such as accidents. The hump is most likely to be positioned in the middle of the nose (supra tip) where nasal bone, upper lateral cartilage and the septum meets. Even in case of minor protrusion, simple correction of 1 mm of the hump removal can deliver huge difference on the person's impression.
Heightening the nose should not be considered as priority for aquiline nose correction, but to have personalized and comprehensive surgery plan according to the condition of the nose.

Hump correction combined with nose augmentation
If nose augmentation is desired after the hump correction, Hump can be removed with bone fracture and thin implant can be inserted over the smoothly shaved nose bridge regardless of the degree of the protrusion. Implant will be shaped based on patient’s nose shape and length; it can also prevent re-growth of fractured nose bones. When root of the nasal bone is low and highest point of the nose is its hump, the whole nose bridge (Nasal dorsum) can be augmented with implant or nasion (starting point of the nose bridge) can be augmented to create smoother nose line.
Surgical Procedures
01. Make a small incision at the base of the nose and separate the outer surface of both nasal bones.
02. Detach the nasal periosteum. Remove the nasal bone and cartilage around the hooked line of the nose.
03. Gather the nasal bones into the center and narrow the empty space due to the removal of cartilage and nasal bone.
04. Apply a cast and put guaze inside the nose for 2-3 days.
Post operation care
Possibility of bleeding for 1-2 days. Wipe with a soft tissue.
Blow nose gently.
Apply an ice pack on the day of surgery and the day after to reduce the swelling.
Avoid drinking and smoking for a month after the surgery.
Avoid wearing glasses or sunglasses for month after the surgery.
