An advanced thread lifting technique performed through a small incision of 1~2 cm made behind the hairline in the temple area where scar will not be visible.
Epiticon® is inserted through the incision to lift down to the SMAS layer.
Sagging skin tissue including the SMAS layer are lifted and fixed, and the individual components of the sagging facial tissues are precisely repositioned to the desired locations by using the multi lifting unit component of Epiticon®.
The overall effect is then further enhanced by secondary lift and firm fix to the temporal fascia using dual fixation technique.
This approach strengthens the lifting effect both internally and externally, resulting in a longer-lasting outcome.

Who is the candidate for Mini SMAS Lift?
HERSHE Signature Mini SMAS Lift primarily targets sagging in the temple, cheek, and jawline, similar to the conventional thread lifting.
However, this is an extensive thread lifting procedure that effectively lifts down to SMAS layer which is firmly secured to the temporal fascia, Mini SMAS lift can be recommended for individuals who are hesitant about undergoing extensive surgical facelift with aging signs of mild to medium degree, and/or can be effective in cases of skin sagging after undergoing bone reduction surgery as part of facial contouring procedures as both cases require strong fixation.

Sagging in the mid-lower face

Mini SMAS lift effectively can improve sagging in the cheeks, jawline and other related areas in the mid-lower face.
Additionally, volume can be created in case of flat cheek.
Sagging after facial contouring:

Facial sagging can appear if the support ligaments are damaged or detached during facial contouring.
Double fixation properties of Mini SMAS lift can assist to provide firm support to the sagging facial structures while improving undefined contour due to the skin sagging through lifting.
Double chin(submental fat):

- About conventional thread Lifting (Floating method)
- The most commonly used technique for thread lifting is the ‘floating’ method. The floating method involves inserting lifting threads to the target area with a cannula and removeing the cannula to expose the thread inside the target tissue.
  Exposed thread is then pulled for lifting, and the pulling tension is released for the anchoring at the desired position.
  This method utilizes protrusions in the thread, where the lifting thread will be left in place and float between the tissues without any physical fixation point.
  
  The floating technique is effective for improving sagging and wrinkles in specific areas of the face, and since it doesn't require incisions, the recovery time is relatively fast. However, the limitation of the floating method is that the threads may get repositioned along with the lifted tissue over time due to facial movements and natural downward movement caused by aging.
  In such cases, the lifted tissues may return to their original position.
  
  Furthermore, as the procedure is performed using cannulas without incisions, it is impossible to visually confirm the exact layer being targeted, relying on the skill and expertise of the surgeon can result in variations in effectiveness.

- HERSHE Mini SMAS lifting is an advanced thread lifting technique designed to address these drawbacks of the conventional floating method.
  After making small incisions of 1-2 cm or less behind of the hairline, which allows the surgeon to have visual to the inner structure, the surgeon precisely insert the lifting threads to the deep layers of the skin, down to the SMAS layer.
  Sagging sin tissue along with SMAS layer beneath the target area are simultaneously lifted in the first stage. Subsequently, the threads are securely fixed using the floating technique.
  
  In the second stage of the lifting, the already-lifted tissues are lifted once again (additional lift), followed by a double fixation in the subcutaneous layer for physical support to enhance the lifting effect and prolong its duration.
  This two staged method improves upon the lifting effect and longevity compared to a single-thread floating lifting procedure.

How HERSHE Performs Mini SMAS Lift:

Make small incisions within the hairline to lift the SMAS layer in the first lifting stage.
Use the floating technique to fix the lifted tissues between the layers.
Lift the already fixed tissues once again in the second lifting stage.
Securely fix the doubly lifted tissues in the subcutaneous layer using the temporal fascia.

Firm and secure from the SMAS layer
As collagen production in the skin layer and subcutaneous fat layer decreases with aging, facial tissue starts to sag downwards.
Eventually, facial balance is disrupted, leading to the descent of the SMAS layer and the formation of wrinkles, resulting in a sagging appearance.
Since SMAS layer is positioned beneath most of the skin layer, when the SMAS layer sags, other above SMAS also sag together, making it challenging to achieve significant and long-lasting improvement through skin lifting alone. Thus, firm and secure lift of deep SMAS layer is essential to achieve fundamental improvement.

Q.Do you use Epiticon® threads?

A. Yes, we do. Epiticon® threads are patented threads developed by our representative director, Dr. Jung Young Choon. These threads are dissolvable yet provide strength, tensile force, and fixation suitable for lifting in heavy tissue areas. With just a small number of threads, they can achieve tissue lifting effects on the entire face.

Q.What areas are treated with the lifting procedure?

A. We target skin sagging and wrinkles across the entire face. Epiticon® threads can be used to fixate on firm tissues like the temporal fascia or move tissues from sagging areas to areas with insufficient volume due to the multi-unit structure of the threads.
Therefore, we can provide individualized lifting treatment to improve various sagging and wrinkle conditions throughout the face.

Q.How long does it take to see the effects of the lifting?

A. The lifting procedure is conducted along the contours of each area, allowing us to freely adjust the position of facial tissues.
Therefore, we can improve most of the sagging tissues and wrinkles.
However, since aging symptoms have complex causes, additional procedures such as autologous fat grafting or facial liposuction may be more effective in combination to enhance overall anti-aging effects.

Q.How many threads are used during the procedure?

A. The number of threads is determined based on the diagnosis.
For an entire face lifting, we generally use more than 20 to 30 threads. However, using more threads doesn't necessarily mean better results. Too many threads may cause pain and discomfort.
Thus, at HERSHE, we use the Epiticon® threads with a multi-unit structure that is advantageous for pulling and fixing, aiming for an efficient lifting procedure.

Q.How long do the results last?

A. Epiticon® lifting has both semi-permanent and dissolvable characteristics.
The dissolvable threads usually dissolve within 1 to 1.5 years. The longevity of the effect can be extended through proper self-care after the procedure.
Additionally, combining the lifting procedure with other anti-aging treatments such as autologous fat grafting or facial liposuction can help maintain the anti-aging effects for a longer period.

Q.Will there be noticeable scars?

A. The procedure involves minimal incisions, and the insertion points for the threads may leave needle marks on the treated areas.
These marks will fade over time and become less noticeable. However, if scarring remains a concern, laser treatment or other scar management programs can be helpful.

Q.What precautions should be taken after the surgery?

A. After the surgery, there may be bleeding or hematoma formation with minor impacts within 1 to 3 days. Applying light pressure with clean gauze or tissue for about 3 minutes can stop the bleeding.
It's essential to avoid getting water on the surgical site and refrain from chewing hard and tough food or opening the mouth widely until fully recovered.
Avoiding positions where the head is bent forward for an extended period and sleeping with the head elevated above the heart for at least 3 to 5 days is advised.
Alcohol and smoking should be avoided for about a month after the surgery.
