- About Conventional Thread Lifting (Floating Method)
- The most commonly used technique for thread lifting is the ‘floating’ method. This method involves inserting lifting threads into the target area using a cannula, then removing the cannula to leave the thread within the target tissue.
  
  The exposed thread is then pulled to create a lift, and the pulling tension is released to anchor the thread at the desired position. The thread's protrusions allow it to remain in place, floating between the tissues without a fixed anchoring point.
  
  The floating technique is effective for improving sagging and wrinkles in specific areas of the face, and since it doesn’t require incisions, recovery time is relatively quick. However, the limitation of the floating method is that, over time, the threads may shift along with the lifted tissue due to facial movements and the natural downward movement of the skin caused by aging. As a result, the lifted tissues may return to their original position.
  
  Additionally, because the procedure is performed with cannulas and no incisions, it is impossible to visually confirm the exact layer being targeted. As such, the skill and expertise of the surgeon are critical, and variations in effectiveness can occur depending on their experience.

- HERSHE Mini SMAS Lifting is an advanced thread lifting technique designed to address the limitations of the conventional floating method.
  
  After making small incisions of 1–2 cm or less behind the hairline, which allows the surgeon to visualize the underlying structure, the lifting threads are precisely inserted into the deep layers of the skin, down to the SMAS layer. In the first stage, sagging skin tissue, along with the SMAS layer beneath the target area, is simultaneously lifted. The threads are then securely fixed using the floating technique.
  
  In the second stage, the already-lifted tissues are given an additional lift, followed by double fixation in the subcutaneous layer. This added fixation provides physical support to enhance the lifting effect and prolong its duration.
  
  This two-stage method improves both the lifting effect and longevity compared to a single-thread floating lifting procedure.

How HERSHE Performs Mini SMAS Lift

Make small incisions within the hairline to lift the SMAS layer in the first lifting stage.
Use the floating technique to fix the lifted tissues between the layers.
Lift the already fixed tissues again in the second lifting stage.
Securely fix the doubly lifted tissues in the subcutaneous layer using the temporal fascia.

Firm and Secure Lift from the SMAS Layer
As collagen production in the skin and subcutaneous fat layers decreases with aging, facial tissue begins to sag downward. This leads to a disruption in facial balance, with the descent of the SMAS layer and the formation of wrinkles, resulting in a sagging appearance.

Since the SMAS layer is positioned beneath most of the skin layers, when it sags, the layers above it also sag, making it difficult to achieve significant and long-lasting improvement through skin lifting alone. Therefore, a firm and secure lift of the deep SMAS layer is essential for achieving fundamental, lasting improvement.

Q.What Areas Are Treated With The Thread Lift Procedure?

A. We target skin sagging in the temple, cheek, and jawline with Epiticon® threads. These threads can anchor firm tissues, such as the temporal fascia, or reposition tissues from sagging areas to areas with insufficient volume. Thanks to the multi-unit structure of the threads, which are inserted into the SMAS layer of the forehead, we can provide customized lifting treatments to address various concerns, such as forehead sagging and wrinkles. This approach ensures a more youthful, rejuvenated forehead with natural, long-lasting results.

Q.How Long Does It Take To See The Effects Of The Lifting?

A. The thread lift procedure is performed along the contours of each area, allowing us to adjust the position of facial tissues as needed. This enables us to improve most sagging tissues and wrinkles. However, since aging symptoms have complex causes, additional procedures, such as autologous fat grafting or facial liposuction, may be more effective when combined to enhance overall anti-aging results.

Q.How Many Threads Are Used During The Procedure?

A. The number of threads used is determined based on the diagnosis. For a full face lift, we generally use more than 20 to 30 threads. However, using more threads doesn’t necessarily guarantee better results. Too many threads may cause pain and discomfort. Therefore, at HERSHE, we use Epiticon® threads with a multi-unit structure, which is advantageous for pulling and fixation, ensuring an efficient lifting procedure.

Q.How Long Do The Results Last?

A. The Epiticon® thread lift procedure has both semi-permanent and dissolvable characteristics. The dissolvable threads usually dissolve within 1 to 1.5 years. The longevity of the effect can be extended with proper self-care after the procedure. Additionally, combining the lifting procedure with other anti-aging treatments, such as autologous fat grafting or facial liposuction, can help maintain the anti-aging effects for a longer period.
