Epiticon® thread lift is
a procedure that can effectively improve sagging of the skin tissue without the need for surgical facelift especially suitable in cases where the degree of the aging signs are not severe. Epiticon® introduces a new concept design called the 'Multi-lifting unit' which has multiple lifting unit on a single lifting thread that performs lifting and anchoring simultaneously with combination of the advantages of existing lifting threads. Utilizing this unique properties, Epiticon® can address various aging symptoms such as sagging, wrinkles, and volume deficiency with lifting, gathering and stretching.

Who is the candidate for Epiticon® thread lift?
Epiticon® thread lifting is suitable for those who have sagging in the lower face (cheek, jawline, etc.), or starting to develop aging signs which are not in severe stage. Even age and aging do not necessarily correspond, it is common to experience the sagging of the skin of the mid-lower face such as cheeks and jawline along with the decrease of elasticity, developing wrinkles commonly referred as smile lines, or the nasolabial folds. Though this aging sign might not be severe at first, it will gradually worsen with time. To maintain youthfulness, it is vital to continuously treat the aging signs to prevent it from getting prominent.

- Retention, the key for effect duration of thread lift
- The effect of thread lifting is achieved by lifting the target tissue and anchoring it in the desired position.
  Therefore, for the lifting effect to be sustained, it is important that the lifted tissue remains well-anchored in its desired position.
  
  Bi-directional lifting threads (3rd generation PDO lifting thread which was widely used in last decade) are consisted of two separate sections: one section responsible for lifting and the other section responsible for anchoring.
  This structure allows a single thread to act as a single lifting unit. The fundamental structural issue with bi-directional threads is that if the thread is absorbed or damaged due to movement or impact within the skin tissue, the separation of the lifting and anchoring section can result in immediate loss of the lifting effect.

- Epiticon®: lifting thread with Multi lifting units
- Epiticon® is in a “multi lifting unit" structure in which each of the numerous protrusions in the thread act as a single lifting unit, performing both lifting and anchoring simultaneously.
  Due to this multi lifting unit properties, Epiticon® does not have direction or separate section such as Mono or Bi-directional lifting threads.
  Therefore, Epiticon® will retain the lifting effect even if thread is separated due to natural movement of face, damages by external force, or absorption of the thread allowing the effect to be expected to last longer.

- Gathering sagging skin and fat tissue
- Each lifting unit of Epiticon® performs a dual action of lifting and anchoring, making it capable of not only lifting the target tissues but also gathering or stretching them.
  
  A common sign of aging is the decrease of volume in the upper and mid-cheek area, as well as sagging of tissues in the lower and mid-face. The unique properties of Epiticon® can be used to improve sagging by gathering the sagging tissues to areas that require volume, thereby achieving tissue redistribution and increasing volume spontaneously addressing the sagging.
  Epiticon® can also achieve similar improvement effects to fat transfer surgery in cases where volume is needed.
  For example, if the anterior cheeks is lacking then it can gather the surrounding tissues, creating volume in the cheek area.

HEALITE® laser treatment after surgery
1. The 590nm wavelength of low-level micropower is initially applied to the epidermal layer of the skin to ensure optimal delivery of healing wavelengths, followed by the 830nm near-infrared wavelength, known for its deep penetration and strong healing capabilities.

2. The 830nm healing photons are emitted from 1800 light sources, creating a zone where the photons overlap.

Q.Do you use Epiticon® threads?

A. Yes, we do. Epiticon® threads are patented threads developed by our representative director, Dr. Jung Young Choon.
These threads are dissolvable yet provide strength, tensile force, and fixation suitable for lifting in heavy tissue areas. With just a small number of threads, they can achieve tissue lifting effects on the entire face.

Q.What areas are treated with the lifting procedure?

A. We target skin sagging and wrinkles across the entire face. Epiticon® threads can be used to fixate on firm tissues like the temporal fascia or move tissues from sagging areas to areas with insufficient volume due to the multi-unit structure of the threads.
Therefore, we can provide individualized lifting treatment to improve various sagging and wrinkle conditions

Q.How long does it take to see the effects of the lifting?

A. The lifting procedure is conducted along the contours of each area, allowing us to freely adjust the position of facial tissues.
Therefore, we can improve most of the sagging tissues and wrinkles. However, since aging symptoms have complex causes, additional procedures such as autologous fat grafting or facial liposuction may be more effective in combination to enhance overall anti-aging effects.

Q.How many threads are used during the procedure?

A. The number of threads is determined based on the diagnosis.
For an entire face lifting, we generally use more than 20 to 30 threads.
However, using more threads doesn't necessarily mean better results. Too many threads may cause pain and discomfort.
Thus, at HERSHE, we use the Epiticon® threads with a multi-unit structure that is advantageous for pulling and fixing, aiming for an efficient lifting procedure.

Q.How long do the results last?

A. : Epiticon® lifting has both semi-permanent and dissolvable characteristics.
The dissolvable threads usually dissolve within 1 to 1.5 years. The longevity of the effect can be extended through proper self-care after the procedure.
Additionally, combining the lifting procedure with other anti-aging treatments such as autologous fat grafting or facial liposuction can help maintain the anti-aging effects for a longer period.

Q.Will there be noticeable scars?

A. The procedure involves minimal incisions, and the insertion points for the threads may leave needle marks on the treated areas.
These marks will fade over time and become less noticeable. However, if scarring remains a concern, laser treatment or other scar management programs can be helpful.

Q.What precautions should be taken after the surgery?

A. After the surgery, there may be bleeding or hematoma formation with minor impacts within 1 to 3 days. Applying light pressure with clean gauze or tissue for about 3 minutes can stop the bleeding.
It's essential to avoid getting water on the surgical site and refrain from chewing hard and tough food or opening the mouth widely until fully recovered.
Avoiding positions where the head is bent forward for an extended period and sleeping with the head elevated above the heart for at least 3 to 5 days is advised. Alcohol and smoking should be avoided for about a month after the surgery.
